Naylors step up to the zip-wire challenge for Age UK Newcastle

October 2014

A team of staff from Naylors have recently launched themselves off the Tyne Bridge to do a zip wire challenge in aid of charity.

Simon Taylor (dressed as Buzz Lightyear), Sam Elliot and Kirstey Waggitt all completed the zip slide which started from the Newcastle side of the Tyne Bridge and travelled 230m diagonally across the river Tyne before finishing at HMS Calliope on Gateshead’s quayside, raising over £550 for Age UK Newcastle.

Simon Taylor, associate director at Naylors said: “Whilst we all felt a little apprehensive about launching ourselves off the Tyne Bridge at a height of 30 metres, once we were travelling across the zip slide it was an exhilarating experience and all in aid of a very worthy cause, we are very grateful to all our sponsors.”

Age UK Newcastle has one clear aim – to make a positive difference to the lives of older people.  They offer a diverse range of services and support including; advice and information, lunch clubs and day services, friendship choices, activities and home support.

Lynn Johnson, chief executive, Age UK Newcastle said; “We want to thank everyone who took part in the zip wire including the staff at Naylors, the money that we raise helps us to work with and for older people in Newcastle, adding life to years as well as years to life.”
